PAINTING EXHIBITION
Flowers of love
Dr Suvit and Khunying Songsuda Yodmani recently presided over the opening of “Flowers of Love” at the Sofitel Centara Grand.
The exhibition of paintings by Chiang Mai-based artist Jay Surasen was held in memory of the late Khun Poom Jensen, the son of Princess Ubolratana.
The event was organised by Supatra Chirathivat, senior vice-president of development, Centara Hotels and Resorts, and Martin Reed, general manager of the Sofitel Centara Grand, at the hotel’s Lat Phrao suites.
Jay is an acclaimed artist known for his paintings of flowers. His style possesses a uniquely Thai identity and his paintings of lotus flowers in rural settings are particularly valued.
The highlight was an auction of selected works, which raised 235,000 baht for the Khun Poom Foundation.
The highest bid, of 90,000 baht by Damai Chirawatpongsa, was for Queen of Water, Canvas #4.
Part of the proceeds from the exhibition will go towards the foundation.
