At a time when people can no longer distinguish what’s subversive and what’s downright stupid and tasteless, Disaster Movie is a perfect specimen. The movie takes pride in being nothing more than a long string of spoofs of recent blockbusters, from The Hulk to Hancock to Iron Man to Amy Winehouse. A loose plot involves a group of young people who encounters a series of catastrophes, since apocalypse is the running theme of Hollywood movies. Disaster, or disastrous?

Rapper Joey Boy stars as a freshly ordained monk who visits a rural temple suffering from the air pollution caused by a nearby quarry. He learns from other monks (played by TV comedians) that once the temple flourished from generous donations because the laymen were drawn to the melodious sermons of the previous abbot. The new monk thus embarks on an inner struggle whether to use his rapping ability to help the temple, or to keep his vow of austerity and devotion by staying quiet.
