Wheelchair racers win silver

Prawat Wahoram heads to the silver medal as part of Thailand’s 4×100m wheelchair relay team.
The Thai men’s 4×100m relay team finished second to win the country’s first medal of the 13th Paralympic Games yesterday. The wheelchair racing team featuring Prawat Wahoram, Supachai Koysub, Saichon Konjen and Pichet Krugget crossed the line in 51.93sec.
Hosts China claimed the gold in 49.90sec while the bronze went to South Korea in 53.52 seconds.
The four Thais will each get one million baht in bonus from the government for winning a silver medal.
A gold medallist gets two million baht and a bronze medallist will receive 500,000 baht.
Thailand aim to win three gold medals in Beijing as they managed four years ago in Athens. The government plans to hold a reception party for the contingent on September 19.
