Thai golfer Thongchai Jaidee has not yet won this year but he is going to get a big prize in real life.
Namfon, his wife and manager, is expecting their second child next month and the baby will be a boy.
According to Namfon, her husband is very happy to get another boy and wants him to become a golfer as their first child, Nong Bank, prefers music to golf.
The first child was named Bank because he was born at a time when Thongchai started to become a wealthy man with prize money from playing golf.
The second child could be a good omen for Thongchai, who will be playing in the Valencia Masters in Spain which begins tomorrow.
Currently ranked 66th on the European Tour’s money list, he needs a good result to push him to the top 60 for a berth in the lucrative season-ending Volvo Masters.
SOMJIT CAN PUNCH AND SING
Olympic boxing champion Somjit Jongjohor is presently a monk at Wat Rakang Kositaram in Thon Buri.
Somjit, who was ordained on October 15, entered the monkhood to make merit for his late father Chao. The Buri Ram native said before being ordained that he wanted to do eight things. Among them are open a khao man kai (chicken rice) restaurant and release a music album.
He has been recording his first album and the first single called Just Look Okay is expected to be released during the New Year.
While several boxers know more about punching than singing, experts say Somjit could become a popular singer as his voice is not just okay but very good.
RELIEF FOR PRAYAD
Prayad Marksaeng might have been in shock after being diagnosed with appendicitis at a hospital in Japan last week.
He was told that he needed an operation. This forced him to withdrew from a tournament and he immediately flew back to Bangkok to undergo surgery.
However, after re-checking him, a Thai doctor told him that he only suffered inflamed intestines and not appendicitis.
The 42-year-old golfer might be frustrated but certainly relieved as he did not need surgery. The condition could be cured by taking medicine so Prayad returned to Japan.
Ranked fourth on the Japan Golf Tour’s money list, Prayad will take part in this week’s Bridgestone Open tournament to resume his bid to claim Japan’s number one spot.
One may wonder if the wrong diagnosis by the Japanese doctor might be a trick to shatter Prayad’s hopes of winning the money title.
GOOD MARKS FOR BECKS IN BED
The woman who claimed to have had an affair with David Beckham has rated the England international footballer eight or eight and a half out of 10 for his performances in bed, The Sun reported.
Rebecca Loos, the bisexual former PA to Becks, has boasted the ex-England skipper was great between the sheets in a new interview with lad’s mag Zoo.
“Yeah, he was good. He looks like he’d be good. You can usually tell,” Loos was quoted as saying.
When asked what the midfielder would score out of 10, she said: “Eight, eight and a half. And very confident. It’s nice when a man is confident in the bedroom.”
Loos also put the boot into Posh rating her the world’s least attractive woman star.
SCRAMBLED EGGS - SOL’S SECRET
Scrambled eggs and a massage are behind veteran centre-back Sol Campbell’s return to form, according to Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp, AFP reported.
Campbell put in a superb display in the goalless draw against Aston Villa last weekend.
And Redknapp believes Campbell is now reaping the benefits of a training regime especially tailored to bring out the best in the 34-year-old.
That involves usually skipping training on a Monday morning after a match, with a visit instead to the canteen at Pompey’s Eastleigh training centre for a plate of scrambled eggs, followed by a massage.
