Thai twins Sonchat and Sanchai ready for Thai Open
TOR CHITTINAND
Thai twins Sonchat and Sanchai Ratiwatana are ready to defend their doubles title at next week’s Thailand Open at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani.
Sonchat, who along with Sanchai won their first ATP title at the Thailand Open last year, resumed training yesterday after being sidelined for one week because of a cold.
”Although I havew not trained for a week, it has not affected my preparation for the Thailand Open.
”I will be 100% ready for the tournament,” he said.
”We have been preparing for the Thailand Open after the US Open. Although our results in recent months have not been very good, we will do our best to defend the title.”
Sonchat said he and his brother, Sanchai, did not feel under pressure as their world ranking is 74th which is lower than many pairs at the Thailand Open which is scheduled from September 21-28.
The sixth Thailand Open features world number three Novak Djokovic of Serbia, Jo-Wilfred Tsonga of France and Russia’s Marat Safin.
Tickets from 300 baht are available at Thai Ticket Major outlets or call 02-262-3456.
