Blades down Coyotes; Warriors stomp Flyers
The BNH Hospital Blades fended off a late-game surge by the Curve Interior Specialist Coyotes to win 2-1 in a hard-fought deVere & Partners Thai-World Hockey League match.
After a scoreless first period Sunday, Blades blue-liner Samrit Meeraphan set up rookie Dareck White who scored his second goal of the season.
Samrit launched a solo rush five minutes later and fired a rocket into the net.
The Coyotes battled back in the third period and Swedish sensation Reine Rauhala made it 2-1 with a bullet blast. But the Blades battened down the hatches in the later stages with goalie Clement Savard making several key saves.
Goaltender Warren Rodricks made 21 saves before leaving with a separated shoulder, and Savard finished with 19 stops.
Game two was a blowout as the Wall St. on 33 Warriors had their way with the D’Pelican Inn Flyers 13-2.
The Warriors offensive juggernaut could not be contained as center Joe Doan and winger Joe Lamantia each scored hat-tricks and added assists.
Towering Swedish defenseman Per-erik Eriksson was a rock on the blue line and chipped in three assists.
Jouni Heinonen scored a deuce and Scott Whitcomb put home a pair and added three helpers. David Blomqvist, Jari Turunen, and Chantapong Tengsakul also tallied.
Jamie Marriott buried the Flyers two goals, one on a penalty shot.
