Government whip : Joint session must take place
Government whip Wattana Buranasiri insisted on Tuesday morning that a joint session for delivering the government’s policy statement must be held, as a number of MPs had already arrived at the building.
He said MPs and senators were gradually entering the parliament after the police shot tear gas to disperse a group of protesters led by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) who were blocking the entrances in the morning.
The meeting was scheduled to commence at 9.30am Tuesday.
Mr Wattana said the government had forwarded the draft policy to the senators, and they can choose not to attend the joint session if they do not have questions relating to the policy.
Commenting on the PAD’s protest in front of the parliament, the government whip said they can demonstrate peacefully, but they cannot block the lawmakers from entering the parliament.
