Sex gel ‘acne cure’
HEALTH The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has dismissed claims that a sexual lubricant gel is an effective treatment for acne.
This follows reports last week that the Number One Plus lubricant brand used in condoms was popular with Cambodian women, who claimed it helped clear up spots.
FDA deputy secretary-general Narangsant Pheerakij insisted yesterday the water-based lubricant has no medicinal benefit.
”There has been a misunderstanding about the properties of the product,” Dr Narangsant said.

Parties to face court
DISSOLUTION The prosecution team working on the dissolution charges against the Chart Thai and Matchimathipataya parties will today file a case with the Constitution Court, Deputy Attorney General Julasingh Wasantsingh said.
Mr Julasingh said that Attorney-General Chaikasem Nitisiri had signed the dissolution indictment after the panel had prepared summaries of the cases.
The Election Commission has ruled that Chart Thai deputy secretary-general Monthien Songpracha and Matchimathipataya deputy leader Sunthorn Wilawan bought votes in the Dec 23 elections.
Article 237 of the constitution provides for dissolution of a party if an executive member violates election law and the party is found to be complicit in the offence.
If the Constitution Court orders the dissolution, the present executive members of the two coalition parties are likely to be banned from political activities for five years.

Monorail proposal
TRANSPORT The Transport Ministry may replace two railway projects with monorails to cut costs, noise and construction time.
According to Soithip Traisuthi, director of the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning, two railway projects, the 12km Lat Phrao-Bang Kapi-Hua Mak Yellow Line and the 10km Tiwanont-Chaeng Watthana-Bang Sue Pink Line, should change from ordinary railways to monorails, which are more suited for construction along narrow routes.
Monorails can be completed in two years and halve construction costs when compared to the costs of elevated railways, and reduce noise pollution due to the use of rubber wheels.
The Yellow Line is estimated to cost 20 billion baht and the Pink Line 48 billion baht.
