Elle Fashion Week 2008 kicked off yesterday with a collection inspired by rock music and ethnic culture, designed by HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana. The fashion event is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, with 15 shows by 17 designers showcased at CentralWorld for four consecutive days.
The princess’s collection was earlier showcased during Paris Fashion Week in September to rave reviews.
Princess Sirivannavari has created a collection of sexy yet exquisite outfits, rich in detail deriving from her study of ethnic costumes.
The womenswear collection includes short cocktail dresses decorated with a braid of chain and silk chords while luxurious materials such as silk crepe, silk chiffon and satin are used to give the collection inspired by rock music a touch of elegant glamour.
The princess also debuts a series of music-inspired menswear outfits, which is an exclusive treat for Thai fans.
”I feel much more relieved now, more than when we finished the Paris show,” Princess Sirivannavari said after the show.
”After Paris, I was only half relieved and that gave me huge pressure.
I was really speechless with tension, especially five minutes prior to the show here. Now, I don’t feel ecstatic or anything. I’m more numb. It’s like being hit.”
