Firecracker attack on judge’s home
Bangkok Post

Security was beefed up at the homes of government officials and politicians after giant firecrackers were thrown at Supreme Administrative Court president Ackaratorn Chularat’s residence on Monday night.
A policeman uses a metal detector to scan the driveway at the home of Supreme Administrative Court president Ackaratorn Chularat yesterday, following Monday night’s firecracker-bomb attack.
Police were called to the three-storey house in Chatuchak district’s Soi Lat Phrao 25 about 11.30pm. No one was hurt in the incident.
Mr Ackaratorn was not at home at the time. He was attending a seminar for senior administrative court officials in Cairo.
Deputy Metropolitan Police chief Pol Maj-Gen Likhit Klin-ouan said three firecrackers were thrown into the grounds. They exploded on the front lawn, near a pavement leading to the house. The explosions left a 10cm-wide hole in the ground.
Police believed the attack was meant to intimidate, not kill.
About 10 people were in the house. They said they did not see the culprit and that Mr Ackaratorn had no grudge against anyone.
One eyewitness said he saw a motorcycle speed away but could not get the vehicle’s model or licence plate.
Metropolitan police chief Pol Lt-Gen Suchart Muankaew told police to provide extra security for government officers and politicians.
