TG cuts fuel fees again
Thai Airways International has cut fuel surcharges further on international routes by an average of 30% from the previous cut last month in response to the continued drop in world oil prices. The new fuel surcharges went into effect last Thursday.
Jet fuel prices were trading in Singapore last week at US$86.72 a barrel. However, the average fuel price paid by airlines this year would still be about $135.80 a barrel, according to the International Air Transport Association.
The new THAI surcharges range from $25 to $175 per flight sector, depending on the route, distance and competition.
For instance, the surcharge from Bangkok to Hanoi, Vientiane and Rangoon was cut to $25 per leg from $41. It is $95 a leg, down from $135 on medium-haul services such as Seoul and Tokyo. Long-haul flights such as London and Paris are now $149, down from $215.
However, the domestic charge was lowered by only 50 baht to 700 baht, while the Chiang Mai-Mae Hong Son rate remains unchanged at 600 baht.
