INVESTMENT :The Board of Investment (BoI) has approved incentives for Innovation Textile Research Co for its 20-million-baht investment in a research and innovation factory in Samut Prakan province.
Innovation Textile Research will develop textiles and garments, with distinctive features such as UV protection, freer air flow and a cotton-like ability to absorb perspiration easily under the brand Hydro-Tech.
In the first three years the company also plans to develop garments using special materials that can reduce the wearer’s urge to smoke. It also manufactures fabric used for wound bandages to reduce imports.
In the future, the company plans to develop and patent garments able to capture solar energy to serve travellers, and license the technology to other entrepreneurs.

Six Senses tops poll
HOTELS :Six Senses Hideaway Samui has been voted Best in the World in the Readers’ Travel Awards Top 100 by Conde’ Nast Traveler magazine.
The resort took the top spots in the Best Overseas Hotel (Asia and India Subcontinent) and the Top 100 Best in the World categories in the 2008 survey.
Six Senses won a score of 96.45 in the survey. Categories included ambience/de’cor, environmental friendliness, location and leisure facilities.
Thailand overall ranked fourth overall in the survey, behind New Zealand, India and Italy. In the island category, Samui ranked fifth while Phuket took 13th place.
Three other Thai hotels ranked among the top five in the Asia and Indian Subcontinent category: The Chedi Phuket second, Amanpuri Phuket fourth and Four Seasons Resort Chiang Mai fifth.

HOTELS :The Centara Duangtawan Hotel Chiang Mai has opened Spa Cenvaree, offering a full range of health, fitness and well-being services.
Located on the hotel’s fourth floor, the facilities include six therapy rooms, couples’ treatment suites with Jacuzzi, hydro facilities with herbal steam bath and sauna, Thai massage rooms, manicure and pedicure salon, a foot massage sala, gym, aerobics studio, swimming pool and spa boutique. The spa also offers Asian-European fusion foods.
