Sipa to take Thai software to international markets
Software Industry Promotion Agency (Sipa) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the International Industries for Trade and Development (ITD) to promote Thai software and animation in the international market.
Sipa president Rungruang Limchoopatipa said the corporation aims to make Thai software more competitive in the global market.
Under the agreement, Sipa will provide consultancy services to Thai software companies, whereas ITD will serve as the marketing arm and help develop international trading skills of local software developers. - The Nation

Sun Microsystems promotes MySQL in Thailand
After acquiring MySQL, developer of open-source database, earlier this year, Sun Microsystems, plans to bundle the MySQL database with Sun’s solutions to encourage the development of open-source MySQL applications in Thailand.
Sun Microsystems, Thailand managing director Rampa Manoonsin said the company will create new partners to provide the MySQL database to customers in various areas such as telecom and finance. About 10 per cent to 25 per cent of organisations in Thailand use the MySQL database.
The company also announced MySQL 5.1, a new version of the open-source database, designed to improve performance and simplify management of large database applications. - The Nation
