Museum festival
Get to know local museums without travelling out of Bangkok. The Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre is holding a museum festival from November 3 to 5 at the centre in Taling Chan district. Designed as a forum where operators of about 80 local museums across the country and those from abroad including India, Japan and Australia can share their experiences, the ”Local Museums Festival” will feature exhibitions in which a number of artefacts from each museum will be put on display. There will be talks on local museum management including the role of academics in creating a local museum network. Asst Prof Srisakara Wallibhotama will give a keynote speech on local communities and local museums.
Cultural buffs will be dazzled by rare cultural performances by folk groups, including dance by the Thai Song ethnic group, and shadow puppet shows from the South.
HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn will preside at the opening on Monday, November 3, at 9:45am.
The ‘Local Museums Festival’ at the Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Anthropology Centre will be from November 3 to 5. Free admission. Call 02-880-9429 ext 3815.
