Exit Poll : Apirak led the race with 52.08%
Democrat party member Apirak Kosayodhin led the race to be re-elected as Bangkok governor on Sunday, with a score of 52.08 percent, according to the exit poll conducted by Suan Dusit Poll.
People Power party (PPP) member Prapas Chongsa-nguan had 23.23 percent, former massage parlour tycoon Chuwit Kamolvisit had 12.10 percent, renowned economist Kriangsak Charonwongsak had 11.40 percent, and businesswoman Leena Jangjanja had 1.23 percent.
The top five constituencies where Mr Apirak drew the most votes included Phra Nakhon with 70.47 percent, Yannawa with 69.95 percent, Pomprab with 69.54 percent, Bang Rak with 67.40 percent, and Samphanthawong with 64.71 percent.
As for the top five reasons why people voted for Mr Apirak, 47.95 percent of the voters were impressed with his experience and past performance, 21.77 percent wanted him to carry on the remaining tasks, 14.51 percent liked his work policy, 10.09 percent believed he is diligent, and 5.68 percent saw him as a good man.
Runner-up Prapas had the most votes from Bang Bon with 32.54 percent, Sai Mai with 31.88 percent, Bang Khen with 30.04 percent, Klong Sam Wa with 27.50 percent, and Bang Sue with 26.44 percent.
36.84 percent of his voters were encouraged by his experience and past performance, 23.68 percent liked his work policy, 19.74 percent wanted someone new to work as Bangkok governor, 11.84 percent believed he is capable, and 7.90 percent saw him as a hard-working person.
Mr Chuwit, who is in third place in the exit poll, gained the most votes from Lad Krabang with 24.06 percent, Min Buri with 20.43 percent, Klong Toei with 20.00 percent, Bueng Kum with 19.41 percent and Saphan Sung with 19.08 percent.
37.31 percent of Mr Chuwit’s voters would like to see a new governor, 32.84 percent saw him as an honest and daring person, 14.93 percent supported his policy, 8.95 percent chose him because he is an independent candidate, and 5.97 liked his talking style.
Mr Kriangsak received the most votes from Ratchathewi with 15.69 percent, followed by Wang Thonglang with 15.35 percent, Nong Kham with 15.05 percent, Don Mueang with 13.77 percent, and Sathorn with 13.24 percent.
59.65 percent were attracted by Mr Kriangsak’s work policy, 13.16 percent saw him as a capable figure, 12.28 percent regarded him as an independent candidate, 8.77 percent wanted a new governor, and 6.14 percent chose him because he is experienced.
Most votes for Mrs Leena came from Sathorn with 4.41 percent, Wang Thonglang with 3.72 percent, Bang Khae with 2.93 percent, Ratcha Burana with 2.70 percent, and Prawes with 2.42 percent.
36.84 percent voted Mrs Leena because of her uniqueness and 26.32 percent for her “dare to speak, dare to act” personality. 21.05 percent voted her because she brought a lively election atmosphere. 10.53 percent would like to see a new governor while 5.26 percent wanted to see a female governor.
