HA NOI — Vietnamese pop singer Ho Quynh Huong will perform at the Asia Song Festival 2008 taking place tonight in Seoul.
Huong will join the festival’s line-up, gathering some 20 pop stars from 12 countries and territories including Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
This is the fifth annual festival co-held by the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange and Seoul City.
Thousands of fans are expected to flock to the World Cup Stadium Sangam to see Korea’s Girl’s Generation, Japan’s W-inds, Thailand’s Ice, the Philippines’ Rivermaya and Viet Nam’s Ho Quynh Huong.
Huong will sing one Vietnamese song and one English or Korean song at the show, accompanied by her Vietnamese dancing group. Her performance will showcase her dancing skills in the lively song Honey that she wrote in Vietnamese, according to her assistant.
This is the second time Huong takes part in the festival since her first performance there in 2006. After the show, Huong will be interviewed by a Korean television station.
Aside from showcasing Asian stars, the festival also gives young performers a chance to show off their talents. Music companies are expected to take part in the Asia Industry Leaders Forum that co-incides with the festival. — VNS
