President , in a ceremony at the formally handed over the ‘Upahara’ introduced by to members of the clergy. The package, earlier limited to and pensioners, was extended to members of the clergy following the President’s pledge to do so during his .

The Government will only fight with groups that are carrying weapons and not with the groups that have disarmed, President said at a ceremony.

President Rajapaksa in his announced that the SLT Upahara Package would be extended to the clergy, indigenous doctors and workers in cooperatives. This package had earlier been limited to and pensioners.

Representatives of all religions, Minister Bandaranayake, Chairperson Chandrasena and Suren J. Amarasekera were present at the occasion.
