Cabbies get S$21.50 chicken rice to commemorate hotel’s new entrance
Posted: 08 November 2008
SINGAPORE: The Meritus Mandarin Hotel along Orchard Road has got a new lobby entrance facing the Takashimaya shopping centre. Taxi-drivers were given some VIP treatment as part of the celebrations.
These cabbies were among the first to receive the hotel’s famed chicken rice from the Chatterbox outlet.
In all, some 1,000 boxes of chicken rice were handed out to the cabbies. A plate of the hotel’s chicken rice usually costs S$21.50.
The giveaway commemorates the hotel’s new entrance, as the old one facing the Heeren is renovated to make way for a high end shopping centre. - CNA/vm
