Asean Narcotics Officials Attend Enforcement Training Programme
SINGAPORE, Nov 10 (Bernama) - Twenty one narcotics officials from Asean countries are in the city-state to attend a five-day integrated narcotics enforcement training programme jointly organised by Singapores Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) beginning Monday.
The programme aims to introduce Singapore’s approach to fighting the drug problem and Australia’s strategy in combating drug trafficking as well as highlight the importance of international cooperation in fighting the drug menace, according to CNB.
CNB and AFP will share with the officials strategies to curb the drug problem in areas such as anti-drug legislation, preventive drug education, drug enforcement at entry and exit points and strategic intelligence.
The participants from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam will also learn about the importance of international law enforcement cooperation in the fight against the drug scourge.
The training programme is co-sponsored by Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and AFP under the Singapore Cooperation Programme.
