Coed shot dead, dumped in Manila
By Jeannette Andrade
MANILA, Philippines—A 20-year-old female student was shot in the face then dumped early Friday morning in Manila.
Anna Katrina Pamilar, an education student at the City College of Manila, was left bleeding to death by the gunman who drove a white Nissan Sentra car.
The victim’s younger sister, Ara, claimed that she suspects Anna Katrina had been murdered by a spurned elderly suitor.
Reports from the Manila Police District homicide section revealed that the incident happened at around 12:50 a.m. Friday along Pedro Gil Street near the victim’s home in Barrio Sta. Maria, Barangay 819, in Paco, Manila.
Police Officer 2 Jaime Gonzales Jr. of the homicide section said that the incident was witnessed by village watchman Jesus Paglaluan, who claimed seeing Pamilar board a parked white car along Pedro Gil Street.
Paglaluan alleged that Pamilar boarded the front passenger seat. Several minutes after the student shut the car’s door, the barangay security personnel said he heard a single shot from within the car.
Gonzales revealed that the village watchman claimed he saw the car move slowly for several meters and watched as the car door was opened and the victim was pushed out the vehicle. The car then sped away.
The panicked watchman immediately sought assistance from policemen manning a checkpoint in front of the Bagong Buhay sports complex in Sta. Ana. Pamilar was already dead from a bullet wound to the head when they returned to the scene.
Pamilar’s body was brought to the Universal Funeral Homes where she was later identified by members of her family.
Ara, 19, told reporters she knew the owner of the white car but declined to divulge the name.
She said that the owner of the car had been courting her sister relentlessly for a year even if Anna Katrina had already spurned him.
The victim’s sister expressed hope that the killer would be arrested soon.
Homicide investigators are conducting follow-up operations for the arrest of the killer.
