KUALA LUMPUR : Lawasia, an international law conference on such subjects as disasters across borders, sports, space, and family and human rights will take place here from Oct 29.
It will be the first time the three-day Lawasia (the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific) conference, usually held biennially, is being held annually.
The keynote address will be delivered by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Themed “Challenging Asia”, it will also feature Datuk Zaid Ibrahim, Raja Muda Perak Raja Dr Nazrin Shah, Attorney-General Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail and Court of Appeal judge Datuk Gopal Sri Ram who will speak on current issues affecting Malaysians, the Asean charter, Malaysian democracy and constitutional rights.
Organising chairman Christopher Leong said there would be 110 speakers from all over the world.
Entrance fees range from RM450 to RM2,900, with discounts for those who register before Wednesday.
