Yano leads Bridgestone by 3
The Yomiuri Shimbun
Azuma Yano fired a 6-under 66 Friday for a 13-under 131 total, taking a three-shot lead after the second round of the Bridgestone Open.
In-form Yano, who has a string of top 10 finishes since winning the ANA Open in September, rode a hot putter to make six birdies in a flawless round on the par-72 Sodegaura Country Club course in Chiba.
Kaname Yokoo also shot a 66 to move up to second place, three shots behind Yano at 10-under 134.
U.S. PGA regular Shigeki Maruyama overcame a triple bogey on the third hole to shoot a 70 and stood alone in third place another two strokes back.
Yuta Ikeda (71) sat one shot behind Maruyama in fourth at 137 while Shingo Katayama (69), coming off his milestone Japan Open victory last week, was knotted in tie for fifth that included Mitsuhiro Tateyama (69), Taichi Teshima (69) and Shintaro Kai (69).
Teen pro Ryo Ishikawa made the cut following a round of 71 and was in an 11-way tie for 40th place that included senior great Masashi “Jumbo” Ozaki (76).

Oyama up by 5 at Masters
Shiho Oyama shot a 7-under 65 Friday and took a five-shot lead over six players, including winless Sakura Yokomine and money race leader Lee Ji Hee of South Korea, going into the second round of the Masters GC Ladies.
The 2006 money queen Oyama showed her old form, reeling in seven birdies in her blemish-free round on the par-72 Masters Golf Club in Miki, Hyogo Prefecture.
Yuri Fudo, winner of last week’s Fujitsu Ladies in a playoff, shot a 73, the same score carded by American Paula Creamer.
Sharing second place at 70 with current money leader Lee and Yokomine are South Koreans Jeon Mi Jeong and Song Bo Bae, Australia’s Nikki Campbell and Japan’s Rui Kitada.
