Anti-Graft Body Grills Anwar Nasution
JAKARTA, Nov 13 (Bernama) — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was scheduled to grill State Audit Agency (BPK) chairman Anwar Nasution here on Thursday, ANTARA news agency reported.
Johan Budi, a KPK spokesman, said Nasution would be grilled in connection with the illegal Rp100 billion (RM32.01 million) Bank Indonesia (BI, Indonesia’s Central Bank) funds transfer case.
“He will be questioned as a witness,” Budi said.
Anwar Nasution would testify on the BI funds transfer case in which four former BI deputy governors — Aulia T. Pohan, Maman H. Somantri, Bun Bunan Hutapea, and Aslim Tadjuddin — have been named suspects.
KPK has questioned Anwar Nasution several times in the same case before, namely in 2003 when he was a BI senior deputy governor.
In court hearings where other former BI officials were defendants, it was established that Nasution was present in a BI Board of Governors meeting on July 22, 2003 which discussed the disbursement of the funds.
The KPK was also expected to further question two other suspects of the case, namely former House of Representatives (DPR) members Antony Zeidra Abidin and Hamka Yandhu.
The BI scandal started in a meeting of the BI Board of Governors on June 3, 2003 on a proposal to use BI funds to help former BI officials facing legal prosecution, as well as to ensure smooth deliberations on the BLBI (Bank Indonesia Liquidity Support) case and revision of the BI Law in the DPR.
