This festive season, resorts woo stressed executives

NEW DELHI: This holiday season, when it looked like the financial crunch would play spoiler, resorts and hotels have come up with innovative techniques for the stressed corporate executive. Hotels are using traditional Indian techniques like ayurveda, yoga and organic food combined with out of the box ideas for team building for corporates.
Our Native Village near Bangalore has introduced the “soul spa” that combines ayurvedic massage with new age techniques like past life regression and rebirthing breathwork.
“Past life regression gives you an insight into why you are where you are in your life today,” explained Susheel Nair, resort manager and a regression therapist. According to C B Ramkumar, managing director of Our Native Village and a rebirthing breathwork therapist, rebirthing is a breathing technique which helps release deep seated subconscious traumas. “And what better time than this to cleanse your mind of the tension and rejuvenate yourself,” he added.
And for those who are tired of racing their SUVs down congested lanes, there are cycle tyre races and bullock cart driving lessons to choose from. Visitors, who are given a licence for the 3-day bullock cart lesson that they pass, vouch for the fact that it gave them a whole new insight into “driving”.
Elephant Valley in Tamil Nadu has gone a step ahead to provide ancient techniques of Chinese martial arts like Tai Chi, breathing exercises with healing powers Qi Gong and the Nai Technique. The Valley also offers tours of coffee plantations by adivasi guides over the sprawling 100 acres of nature reserve and organic farm that has two waterfalls and a river flowing through it.
“We are a low key establishment with just 12 accommodation units. Our endeavour is that people who come here explore the earth and know about it,” Sunil Verghese from the Elephant Valley hotel said.
