SC imposes conditional stay on JNU student’ elections

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Friday imposed a conditional stay on elections to the of (JNU).

A bench of Justices Arijit Pasayat and Mukundkam Sharma also issued contempt notices to the JNU vice-chancellor and the registrar for not ensuring that the election process was conducted in terms of the Lyngdoh .

The also directed the Superintendent of Police, Puri, , to initiate against students of S College who reportedly indulged in large-scale in the run up to the elections.

The passed the of directions on an application filed by amicus-curiae () and Additional General Subramanium complaining about violation of the Lyngdoh .

The Supreme Court appointed Lyngdoh Committee in September 2006 had given various guidelines and suggestions for smooth and of students across the country.
