Lalu to EC : Bar MNS from polls
25 Oct 2008, TNN
NEW DELHI: RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Friday urged the Chief Election Commissioner to cancel the registration of MNS as a party and debar it from contesting polls “in view of its unconstitutional activities”.
In a letter, which was also signed by other RJD MPs and office-bearers, Lalu said: “The parochialism and destructive politics of Raj Thakeray and his outfit MNS are dividing our country on regional and linguistic lines and, thus, threatening the unity and integrity of the country.”
The letter said: “We the members of the Rashtriya Janata Dal strongly urge the commission to take immediate action for cancellation of registration of MNS for its unconstitutional activities and debar it from contesting elections so that unity and integrity of our country can be protected.”
