Five arrested for passing lewd remarks at girl

LUCKNOW: Five persons were arrested for allegedly teasing a girl while she was shopping in a market here on Thursday.

The incident was reported from Banthra police station. Those arrested included Sajid (44), Aamir (18), Anil (22), Prashant Singh (19) and Ram Yadav (28). All arrested belong to Hardoi. According to the police, the victim Radha (name changed) alleged that she was doing some shopping in a market in Gadi Chunauti area under Banthra when five persons came in an SUV and passed lewd remarks at her.

As the girl opposed the move and shouted at them, a distant relative Himanshu, along with his friend Ram Pratap Singh, who were coincidentally present in the market, came to her rescue. The accused did not stop passing lewd remarks but later Himanshu and Ram Pratap called the locals for help and the eve-teasers were nabbed and handed over to the cops.

According to the police, during the interrogation the arrested told them that Sajid is car driver. Aamir is his helper while Anil and Ram Yadav are rickshaw pullers. All the arrested were booked under section 294 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
