Participants in the three-day seminar, which closes at the China Research Center () in Beijing today, presented and discussed their research works on the ’s society and economy, linguistics, literature, religion, Sanskrit, museum studies, and .

Among other things, their reports gauged the impact of the Beijing-Tibet Railway on the living conditions of , examined the balance between environmental protection and economic growth in Yarlung Tsangpo , and explored the possibilities of developing .

“The reform and opening up policy has taken the course of to a new level,” Lhagpa Phuntshogs, director-general of , said. “The latest studies have broken the limitations of and a of modern has been established, covering almost all the of Tibet and areas in other provinces where Tibetans live.”

Jointly sponsored by the China Research Center, China Association for Preservation and Development of Tibetan Culture (CAPDTC), Tibetan Academy of Social Science,and undertaken by the China Research Center, the seminar will last for three days.
