Thursday, October 16, 2008
SOME 24 Indonesian senior government officials are in the country on a five-day working visit to better understand the internal operations of Brunei’s government, as part of their foreign strategic studies involving the learning of an Asean country’s administration and policymaking processes.
This is the first trip organised by the Indonesian National Resilience Institute where officers and senior government officers are required to undergo a course which prepares them for their promotion into higher senior ranks.
The delegation arrived in the country on October 12 with a short stop at the Indonesian Embassy for a briefing before commencing their tour of the various departments and ministries which include the Ministry of Foreign Affairsand Trade, the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, the Oil and Gas Discovery Centre in Seria, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
During their visit to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF) yesterday, the visitors were briefed on the areas of expertise handled by the police and their obligations towards protecting the nation and its people. They were also given a short video presentation of the establishment of the force, its training facilities and branches that come under the jurisdiction of the police force. The presentation gave the visitors a brief insight into the administration of the RBPF and their international counterparts, such as Aseanapol and Interpol.
The training course, which is on its 42nd year, has been extended to various countries within the region, including Singapore, Vietnam and Japan. (SRH1) The Brunei Times
